Small Business Management Institute

The Small Business Management Institute is designed to enhance the business owners' knowledge and skills in strategic planning and management which will allow them to organize and grow their business enterprises profitably and gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. A Certificate of Completion is awarded to participants that successfully complete the program. Lenders and bank partners of the Institute favor small business owners who complete the program successfully.

Registration Information

Entrance Requirement:
Entrance requirement for this program is minimum 17 years of age.

NOTICE: Class will not be held on Saturday, May 24, 2007 due to Memorial Day weekend. Classes will resume on May 31, 2008.

Full Series Registraion: Early registration by May 10, 2008: $175; After May 10, 2008 $250.
You may register On-line for the full program series below.

Single Session Registation: $30 per session. To register for single sessions, please contact the SBDC Training Office at (915)831-7742 for assistance. Do not register On-line.

Method of Payment: Payment by Visa, MasterCard, and Discover is accepted. If paying by check or money order, please make payment payable to El Paso Community College.

Refund policy: Refunds apply only if notification of your registration cancellation is received two days (48 hours) prior to the start of the program.

Location: The program sessions are held at the The Small Business Development Center Offices, 9050 Viscount Blvd., El Paso Community College, B-Building, Room B520.

Instructor and Guest Speakers

Virginia E. Price, CPA

Virginia E. Price is president of Genesis 21, a nationally recognized consulting firm located in El Paso, Texas. Genesis 21 has consulted for numerous national, regional and local clients such as Levi Strauss and & Co., Levi Strauss Foundation, U.S.
Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Labor, the Texas Workforce Commission, and the City and County of El Paso. She is the treasurer of the Women's Funding Network, past president of the El Paso 8(A) and Minority Government Contractors Association, past treasurer of the El Paso Empowerment Zone Corporation and the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation. She has served on the boards of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Clinica Guadalupana and American Diabetes Association. Ms. Price has been recognized by the Small Business Administration as well as the Texas legislature for her advocacy on behalf of women and small business. She is also a co-founder and board member of the Frontera Women's Foundation.
